Calcium
Calcium Citrate
Although it has been said that "calcium is the most abundant mineral in the
body," the evidence shows that most people, as they get older, will
need to take supplemental calcium in their diet, especially when they are 60
years old, or over. As people get older, they not only lose muscle mass, but they
also lose bone mass. They get skinnier, and shorter. These are the common
facts.
There is a logical biological reason why "calcium is the most
abundant mineral in the body". And that is because our body needs mineral
calcium the most, and in order to meet that need calcium is abundantly supplied
in the body.
How do we get the extra calcium into our body? Mainly from
our food, a good healthy well balanced diet consisting of fruits, vegetables,
grains, nuts, poultry, fish, meat, etc. But as people get older, and their
income become more limited, they become more selective in their diet. Instead of
drinking milk, they drink wine or beer. Instead of eating a variety of vegetables and
fruits that are high in minerals and fiber, they eat prune fruits only. Older people adapt to or develop poor eating habits that they never had when they were younger.
Consequently, their bodies are deficient in the important nutrients that the body
needs, such as calcium, a nutrient that should be abundantly present in our
body.
I have included on this page a link about Calcium which I hope
will persuade you about the importance of getting "enough" calcium in the
diet.
