Indonesian Cuisines Tempeh - The World's Finest Food
Fried Tempeh
TEMPEH BACEM
Ingredients:
8 cups of water
1/2 tsp of cumin
5 tbs of brown sugar
1 tsp of regular table salt
1 tsp of ground coriander 1 tsp of Norton seasoned salt
1 tsp of dried ground red chili
5 Bay leaves, imported from Indonesia
24 oz Indonesian quality tempeh, sliced
3/4 inch of fresh galangal root cut in smaller pieces
3/4 cup of chopped red onion and 7 cloves of garlic
ground together in a blender (may add a little water)
Preparation:
Heat the water in a pot large enough to hold the tempeh
pieces, and let the water boil for a minute
Add all the ingredients in the boiling water, and stir
for another minute or two.
Place the pieces of the tempeh in the pot and cook
them in the pot until the liquid is reduced to 3 cups,
stirring occasionally making sure that all the tempeh
pieces were immersed during the cooking so they
can absorb all the flavor. Lower the heat.
Lastly heat adequate oil hot enough to fry the tempeh
pieces until light dark brown.
Serve warm. Enjoy!
